Tell us a little about yourself…

I am 36 years young and have been living in Plainfield for the past 13 years. I have three dogs and a girlfriend, who also loves to rip her shirt off prior to the start of any WOD. 😉 My sister and niece Mila live in Bloomington, IN so I try to get out to them any chance it get. I have always been drawn to the outdoors and would love the opportunity to move out west to live a life more in line with the mountains and endless trails. I love to make the most out of every day and embrace anything that comes my way with positivity.

‘Being challenged in life is inevitable. Being defeated is optional’

How did you get started in CrossFit?

I used to belong to the global gym life and would find different interval workouts on Pinterest throughout my various triathlon trainings. When Britta and I became friends, she talked about CFR and mentioned how I should check it out. She spoke so highly of Craig so I decided to give him a call. He set me up with Robby for a one on one consult and from day one I was hooked.

What are your favorite movements to do during a wod?

Well we all know I love burpees and wish they were programmed in every WOD. But pull ups are always a good challenge and I have been working on my hspu and happy with my progress. I think throwing around the barbell during a WOD always gets the adrenaline going and brings out the fierceness in everyone .

What do you love best about CrossFit?

Being a former college athlete, it was difficult to find something to consistently challenge me at a high level. CrossFit has opened an entirely new door to fitness and every day I know I am pushed to my limits. Enduring the mental battle in WODs fires me up and I am constantly pushing myself to the breaking point. With that being said, the community of CFR is absolutely incredible. I love the energy from the 5am crew! There is something special to be said of how a group of people with varying ability levels can all come together as a family and take pride in everyone’s personal journey. I am extremely grateful to be a part of the class WODs again after coming off my surgery last July. Being able to continue to show up at 5am every morning helped tremendously with the mental grind of rehab and I never lost touch with what Resurgence is truly about. Thank you to everyone for helping me on my journey back!

When you’re not in the gym busting your butt, what is your favorite things to do?

I would like to say you can find me at our garage gym…but I have learned to honor rest days! So when I am not working out, I crave adventures. I am always looking for new places to explore and capturing what the world has to offer in nature. I am also a huge book nerd and love college football…go Irish! Having three pups is pretty entertaining and keeps us on our toes.

Tell us something that most people don’t know about yourself?

I completed the Chicago Marathon back in 2010 and got to soak my feet in Buckingham Fountain before getting kicked out by security.

When I turn 40, I will be making a trip to New Zealand, Australia and Fiji!
